Writing Your Own Information Products

An information product is the easiest type of product you can
create. With the demand for information by consumers, the info
product market is a market that you definitely want to look into
as a possibility for your very own business, with your very own
products.

Starting this type of business, and creating these types of
products is so easy, that you could realistically expect to have
a product line of ten or more informational products within a
few month’s time.

Informational products include ebooks, reports, audios, and
membership websites. You can do the work yourself, and you can
do it with very little time, and very little expense.

Ebooks and reports are the fastest products to create. You can
easily write your ebook in Microsoft Word, and then format it
into a PDF file for distribution. You could also choose to
convert it to an .exe file, but PDF is more widely acceptable.

Coming up with a topic isn’t hard either. Simply find out what
popular searches are being done. You can find this information
through Google at: http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist.html .

These reports show you what people are searching for, and they
will help you choose a topic for your informational product.
With your topic chosen, it is time to get to work.

You have two choices now. You can either write the information
yourself, or you can hire someone to write the information for
you.

You can have twenty articles written through a site like Rent a
Coder, at http://www.rentacoder.com, for as little as $100. That
could be converted to about ten chapters of an ebook.

If you want to write the information yourself, you need to set
aside eight to ten hours of quite time, total. It really
shouldn’t take longer than this, unless it is your first time.

In that case, you need to plan to work on your ebook every
single day for one week. At the end of the week, you should be
to the proofreading stage.

It is important to proofread the ebook before distributing it.
You want to keep your mistakes to a minimum. You want it to look
good, and be easy to read. Once you think it is ready, have
friends and relatives read it, and ask them for their honest
opinion.

It is important to note that you are not trying to write the
great American novel…you are simply trying to create a valuable
information product. Relax, and don’t make it harder than it
really is. Wriet first. Edit later. Don’t try to write a
finished product.

Once you’ve got your ebook, and it has been converted to a PDF
file, it is time to give your ebook a home. You can either add
the product to your existing website, or create a website
specifically for the product, if it does not tie in with other
products that you are selling from your website.

Make sure that if you are including this product in your product
line at your existing website that you give it a webpage of its
very own.

Creating audio interviews is another simple product to create.
Simply find someone who is an expert at something and arrange
to interview them (typically by phone), then turn it into an
audio product.

You should also have the interview transcribed and turned into
a PDF and include it. This will bring up the value.

What’s great about doing these interviews - some of these
experts you find will actually write the questions for you!
Or you can create a simple survey asking people to come up with
questions for you. Very simple indeed.

Now, you are ready to sell the product. Strongly consider using
Pay-Per-Clicks through Google AdWords, and also consider an
affiliate program. You can easily set up an affiliate program
through Click Bank at http://www.clickbank.com or Pay Dot Com at
http://www.paydotcom.com .

By setting up an affiliate program you will have others selling
your product for you, and you will pay them a commission. Try to
set the commission you are paying at 50%, so that potential
affiliates will be interested and have the incentive to sell
your product for you!
